It started with a room of mostly strangers, not knowing what The Foundry would look like, how long it would be before it actually launched, or even that it would be called The Foundry. We all answered the question, “What’s necessary for you to feel like this ministry is a place you can belong and grow?”

All this time, The Foundry has followed some pretty simple, yet important, rules to help guide our decision making. Do No Harm & Do Good. So what does that look like right now as we launch while COVID is still very much part of our community?

Noticed that we like to switch up our location a bit? We don’t do that just to confuse people… there is actually a reason. We promise.

Gathering every other week for Community Night is a core part of The Foundry. But what is Community Night and where does it happen?

We think small groups are pretty important. John Wesley, the dude who started this whole Methodist movement way back when, also seemed to think small groups were important.

While it might seem like The Foundry does a lot of things that a church congregation does (worship, teaching, Christian service, and gathering), we are adamant that we are not a church for young adults!

A foundry, at its core, is a place where things are formed, given shape, and sent out with purpose. We hope The Foundry will do just that by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Who is the Foundry for? What exactly is The Foundry’s definition of “young adult”? We’ve gotten this question a lot since we first started dreaming about this ministry. Maybe this will clear some things up for you…

The weather was iffy all week, but Saturday morning the forecast seemed to be on our side. We made the call: outside! Five minutes later, the forecast shifted. But we played… or more accurately, we played in the rain.

After 14 months of planning and waiting and more planning, The Foundry hosted our first gathering of young adults - and it was amazing! Some of our Launch Team shares about their time planning and hosting this first gathering.

Eating is a common experience which connects us to each other. Connection is the main ingredient in the recipe for strong community.

The beautiful part about the relationship God set up between us & food is that it shows how our relationship with Him is to look: part of our daily lives, something inevitable that we long for when it’s been too long. God didn’t intend our relationship to be saved for a weekly helping of the Word or worship.

For lack of a non-food verb, I have been marinating in the wonder of the connection between God’s creation and us through food. God’s creation story has always been a part of my faith story. In giving Adam & Eve the Garden, God built in our connection to His creation through food.
