Is the Foundry a Church?

While it might seem like The Foundry does a lot of things that a church congregation does (worship, teaching, Christian service, and gathering), we are adamant that we are not a church for young adults!

The Foundry is a ministry that seeks to encourage and strengthen church congregations who have young adults but do not have the ample or appropriate abilities to minister effectively to young adults. Ideally, The Foundry will be a collection of young adult Christians who encourage each other through relationship, worship, and service, but who will also be active members in their respective congregations. We have intentionally chosen not to do some of the things that occur in churches, such as Baptism or The Lord’s Supper, because we believe those specific rituals should reside within a body of believers who have covenanted together as a congregation.

Ultimately, we want people who participate in The Foundry to be shaped and equipped to be leaders in their local church. If we are sacrificing our commitment to the Church in order to give more time and energy to The Foundry, then we have failed! After all, our vision is to be “a ministry of young adults creating belonging for one another to...follow their call to Kingdom work in our community and churches.
