Worship Night | April 20th

We are a week removed from our first event hosted by The Foundry, and we are still trying to come up with the right words to capture how excited, moved, and honored all of us were to be part of such an amazing evening. (Check out some pictures from the night at the bottom of this page.) In honor of helping plan, promote, and participate in this inaugural event, we wanted to create a space for some of our launch team members to share their perspective on this big milestone for our new ministry!

Nearly a week after our outdoor worship night, I’m still on cloud nine! It is amazing to see God’s work in action. After literally more than a year of planning, talking about, praying for and envisioning, the first Foundry event FINALLY happened. At times, it was difficult to carry on. Is this really what we are supposed to do? Is this the right time? What if...? What about...? But COVID?! The questions and unknowns were endless. Luckily, we serve a God that is greater than our fear, stronger than doubt and unmoving even in the most “unprecedented” of times. His plan and purpose will always prevail. And I must say, He sure came through last Tuesday night! It was SO much fun to see so many young adults gather together to celebrate our Lord, to meet new friends, and eat yummy food. Thank you, Lord, and all of you, for seeing the Foundry to fruition. Thank you for your prayers, support and for showing up, figuratively & literally! Here’s to many more amazing events to come!

The anticipation and anxiety is palpable in Holly’s words. All of us launch team members have been waiting for over a year to see the fruition of our many conversations, emails, meetings, and prayers! We are grateful for a God who honors our desires and efforts and makes sure that our participation in God’s plans does not go to waste.

Stephanie reflected,

While trying to think of something to say about Worship Night by mind kept drawing a blank. I think that was largely due to the fact that there is absolutely nothing quite like standing under a beautiful sunset praising God with fellow believers. Even though I didn’t interact/meet as many new faces as I meant to during this first event, I still felt a sense of community and connection with every person that attended. The Holy Spirit was definitely in that parking lot. I loved getting to be a part of making this night happen and can’t wait for the next event!

Stephanie expresses what we’ve all been thinking - how can you truly articulate the deep emotions that well up when God’s people gather together to be the people God has designed us to be? And we hear you, Stephanie! We can’t wait for another chance to see all those beautiful faces at the next Foundry event!

Speaking of which, save this date: on Saturday, May 15, from 11am-2pm, we will be at Alamo Heights United Methodist Church having lunch, playing yard games, and getting to know each other some more! We can’t wait to see you and are so ready to get to know you better. There’s a place in The Foundry for you, so come and join us!

We are grateful to be on this journey together with you,
The Foundry Launch Team
